Teaching Aquatics
ASA Teaching Aquatics Level 1
Must be 16 years of age at the start of the course.
Anyone interested in teaching swimming can apply.
The certificate involves teaching groups of 1 - 4 pupils from non-swimmer through the stages of the National Plan for Teaching Swimming.
The syllabus is completed as 2 modular units and includes
- child protection
- sport equity
- health and safety issues
- equipment
- the strokes
- lesson planning
- schemes of work
ASA Teaching Aquatics Level 2
Must be 17 years of age at the start of the course, and hold the ASA Teaching Aquatic Certificate Level 1.
The certificate involves teching groups of 4 - 12 pupils from non- swimmer through the stages of the National Plan for Teaching Swimming.
The syllabus is completed as modular units and includes
- child protection
- health and safety issues
- the strokes
- lesson planning
- working with an assistant
- schemes of work
- fundamentals
- anatomy and physiology
Units 1-5 will be held at Carn Brea Leisure Centre. Unit 6 will be work based assessments. For information on courses please go to the ASA web site.
